Frequently Asked Questions

Learn how BlipMarket works and how to participate in prediction markets

What is BlipMarket?

Blip Market is a prediction market where you bet on the outcome of real-world events. Each market has a clear question, a deadline, and a defined resolution.

Prediction markets aggregate information from many participants, the rewards of YES and NO bets reflect the collective wisdom of all participants.

Is Blip Market a sportsbook or a casino?

No. Blip Market is a pool-based prediction market focused on transparency and on-chain rules.

How do I earn on Blip Market?

You earn by betting on the correct outcome. All bets go into a shared pool, and when the event ends, the pool is distributed among the users who picked the winning outcome, proportional to their stake.

How do I get started?

  1. Connect your wallet: Click the "Connect" button in the header to connect your Klever wallet. You'll need KLV (Klever's native token) to place bets.
  2. Browse markets: View available prediction markets on the home page. Each market shows the question, description, end date, and current probabilities.
  3. Select a market: Click on any market card to see detailed information including current pool sizes, probabilities, and your position (if you've already bet).
  4. Place a bet: Choose YES or NO, enter your bet amount in KLV, and click "Place Bet". You'll need to confirm the transaction in your wallet.

How are payouts calculated?

Payouts are calculated using the parimutuel formula. When you place a bet, your potential payout depends on:

  • The size of your bet
  • The total pool size of the opposite outcome
  • The total pool size of your chosen outcome (including your bet)
  • The platform fee (8%)

Formula for YES bets:

Payout = Your Bet + (Your Bet / Total YES Pool) × Total NO Pool × (1 - 0.08)

Formula for NO bets:

Payout = Your Bet + (Your Bet / Total NO Pool) × Total YES Pool × (1 - 0.08)

Note: The payout preview shown when placing a bet is an estimate. Actual payouts may change as more bets are placed before the market closes.

How are markets resolved?

Markets have an expiration date. After the market closes:

  1. Market closes: No new bets can be placed after the end date. The market becomes read-only while the outcome is being verified.
  2. Resolution: The market is resolved to either YES or NO based on the actual outcome of the event, using official and verifiable sources. This step may take some time to ensure accuracy.
  3. Claiming rewards: Once resolved, winners can claim their rewards. Click the "Claim Rewards" button in your position section to receive your payout.

How is the outcome decided?

Each market has clear resolution rules and objective criteria defined in advance. Outcomes are resolved based on real-world results.

What fees are charged?

BlipMarket charges an 8% platform fee only on the winnings (your share of the losing side), not on your original bet.

Example: You bet 10 KLV and profit is 5 KLV → fee is 8% of 5 (= 0.4 KLV). You receive 10 + (5 - 0.4) = 14.6 KLV.

Additionally, you'll pay standard Klever Network transaction fees when placing bets or claiming rewards. These are minimal blockchain fees, not platform fees.

Do I need a wallet? What blockchain is this on?

Yes, you need a Klever wallet to participate. BlipMarket is built on the Klever Network blockchain, and all transactions are executed on-chain using smart contracts.

You'll need KLV (Klever's native token) to:

  • Place bets
  • Pay transaction fees
  • Receive payouts (also in KLV)

All bets and claims are recorded on the blockchain, ensuring transparency and security. You can verify all transactions on the Klever blockchain explorer.

How does Klever Blockchain fit in?

Blip Market runs on smart contracts on the Klever Blockchain, which enforce the rules, handle payouts, and ensure transparent, on-chain settlement.

Can I cancel or change a bet?

No, bets cannot be cancelled or changed once placed. This is because bets are immediately recorded on the blockchain and become part of the market's liquidity pool.

However, you can:

  • Place additional bets on the same outcome to increase your position
  • Place bets on the opposite outcome (though this doesn't cancel your original bet)
  • Wait for the market to resolve and claim your rewards if you win

Tip: Always double-check your bet amount and selected outcome before confirming the transaction in your wallet.

How do I view my positions and portfolio?

You can view your positions in two ways:

  1. On individual market pages: When you visit a market where you have a position, you'll see a "My Bet" section showing your bet amount, chosen outcome, and potential/actual payout.
  2. Portfolio page: Click "Portfolio" in the header to see all your active positions across all markets in one place.

Your portfolio shows both open positions (markets still accepting bets) and resolved positions (where you can claim rewards if you won).

What happens if I bet on the losing outcome?

If you bet on the losing outcome, you lose your bet amount. Your KLV goes into the pool that is distributed to winners.

This is how parimutuel betting works: the losing side's pool is distributed to the winning side.

Is there any risk?

Yes. If you pick the wrong outcome, you can lose your stake. Always bet responsibly.

Technical Details

BlipMarket uses smart contracts on the Klever Network to ensure:

  • Transparency: All bets and payouts are recorded on-chain
  • Security: Funds are held in smart contracts, not by a central party
  • Immutability: Once a bet is placed, it cannot be altered
  • Decentralization: No single entity controls the markets

Each market has its own smart contract address, which you can view on the market detail page. You can verify all transactions using the Klever blockchain explorer.
